Course Summary

This course will look at how we can communicate back to our dogs using our body language, hand gestures, markers, and cues, all with positive reinforcement. Ensuring our dogs understand us and when they have got the behaviours right or made the right choices. This communication increases focus on us as dog guardians and that we are also the source of fantastic things, not just what is in their environment. Being clear and consistent with how and what we ask sets your dog up for success. With success comes increased self-confidence and feel good emotions for your dog and you. When your dog makes the right choices, they can show just how clever they are when they understand what you are asking of them. We will cover some excellent foundation skills that are transferrable in different circumstances and environments. There is also a section on 'proofing' your training gradually in distracting environments, so all your behaviours are reliable no matter where you are. You can also learn about shaping, luring, targeting, and counter-conditioning. You can use these skills as part of playing, creating trick routines, and for everyday life. The possibilities are endless, and the fun starts right here.

Foundations Skills Review

I found this course excellent - very accessible, down-to-earth and with realistic goals. It is really good to be able to revisit the modules. This is one of the advantages of the really well-presented online format and makes the course particularly good value for money as you have it for keeps to refer to later. The online format also really helps provide and pace training for a fearful/reactive like mine who would be overwhelmed in a training class situation. We have been putting lots of the techniques into action and seeing real progress.
